Our first topic for the new term (Sept 6th–29th) is ‘All about me’. Staff have planned activities for the whole group to access which cover all seven areas of learning. At the moment the most popular have been singing ‘Heads, shoulders, knees and toes, and playing ‘Simon says’; this has been helping the children to learn the names of the parts of the body. Also, incredibly popular are the messy craft activities. In the pictures you can see Gayna helping the children to look into a mirror, studying their own eye colour and comparing this to pictures of eyes; and then painting what they believe their eyes to look like. It has been amazing to find out just what detail the children are aware of and to hear them discuss with their friends whether they are the same as or different from each other.
